The Diversity Gap in the Academy Awards — 2 Comments

  1. Should I care about this? I mean, anyone outside the film industry who gives a toss about the Oscars is clearly being manipulated. Is greater diversity of manipulation really worth fighting for? We might as well be calling for more minorities in TV ads.

If the Oscars do matter, I’d like to call for less gender diversity in the ‘Best Director’ award if that diversity comes at the cost of promoting US military adventurism and anti-Iranian racism.

If you call for more diversity in the film industry as a whole I might sign up, as long as that doesn’t mean more minority stereotypes and racial denigration.
